Welcome Anon! This will be a short but concise blueprint that you can adopt if you want to get started in the crypto industry. The biggest hurdle beginners face is that there is so much knowledge to absorb which makes it hard to know where to start. I have gone through these struggles myself and the information can be overwhelming at times.
This is why I am writing this guide to provide you with the path to knowledge I would have appreciated when I got started. Ready to become a crypto native? Let’s start!
There are three places I would recommend you to start so I will go through them 1 by one.
Coinbase
The first one I will discuss is Coinbase earn. This is a platform created by the exchange Coinbase. What does Coinbase earn offer?
Pros
Watch educational content that will teach you about cryptocurrencies.
Complete quizzes after consuming the educational content
When you complete quizzes you get rewarded in cryptocurrencies (Learn-2-Earn).
Completing all the quizzes would give you roughly $90. (Not bad for becoming smarter huh?)
Cons
The only main downsides is that it requires KYC (ID identification) as any exchange or broker does.
It will most likely not last forever as the industry matures so it makes sense to understand it before then.
Nonetheless, you will need to have an exchange account to make sure that you can get money in and out of crypto. See it as an necessary on-ramp and off-ramp for you to get started.
When you have experienced this platform, I would recommend that you create your own wallet. You can either do through Coinbase or go through the Metamask route which is the most standard one. If you’re unfamiliar with how to create a Metamask wallet I have created a video tutorial as well.
Binance
Binance is the largest crypto exchange in the world. In my opinion, Binance provides the best value when it comes to educational content for beginners. They really get down the basics well and make sure you know what you’re doing before you get started. Their educational platform is called Binance Academy. What does Binance Acedemy offer?
Pros
Over 280 articles covering everything crypto related. (I know you’re not reading all of that Anon)
Deeper understanding on everything from what a cryptocurrency is to the depths of the Metaverse.
Higher financial rewards than Coinbase (although only applies to people that have not signed up to Binance previously).
Cons:
Huge amount of content, can be overwhelming for the beginner (In this case, I would recommend that you start on the easier route and then focus on what you actually want to learn)
Token voucher for rewards only valid for 14 days (you would probably cash out before that)
Requires you to start learning before signing up.
Requires KYC as any other exchange.
It is understandable that people want to try out the exchange and then start learning. So if you are more impatient and like learning-by-doing by just trying out different stuff. You can register on Binance here and receive 10% off on your trading fees.
Rabbithole
If you actually want to become verse with the depths of crypto, Rabbithole is my favourite place to go if you want to learn about it. They have gamified the learning experience by enabling you to earn XP and NFTs as rewards. Rabbithole enables you to get hands-on experience using crypto with well thought out guides that will make you comfortable interacting with smart contracts. Here is where you will learn to use the depths of crypto properly. However, I have suggested Coinbase and Binance before this because you will want to have some general knowledge before going down this route. Rabbithole requires that you have created a wallet as well so the prerequisites are there to prepare you for the journey.
By the time you are done completing the quests on Rabbithole. You will get rewarded in NFTs that you can sell on Opensea. You will also be able to call yourself a crypto native. From there the world is your oyster as there are tons of protocols and blockchains to explore.
In the next piece, I will discus security which is essential in this space. Especially as you will interact with smart contracts. Malicious actors are everywhere and will want to steal your money so we will go through how to prevent that.
